With over 16 years of experience, James Abrenio specializes in Personal Injury & Medical Malpractice cases in Northern Virginia. Like many of his clients, James shares a diverse background. Son to a father who emigrated from the Philippines and a mother born and raised in Harlan, Kentucky, James brings a unique perspective to his cases.  James considers himself a true Virginian. He spent his grade school years in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains, “Coal Country,” in Grundy, Virginia. In high school, his family moved to Richmond, and James completed his undergraduate studies at UVA in Charlottesville.  

James earned his J.D. from Syracuse University College of Law in 2008 and returned to Northern Virginia where he has practiced law ever since. 

As a life-long learner, James believes that teaching is important. In 2024, James served as a Lecturer at the University of Virginia School of Law. James regularly presents Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Courses to fellow lawyers for the VTLA, Virginia CLE, and Fairfax Bar Association.

James takes on important leadership roles. Currently, he serves on the Board of Governors for the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association. In 2019, James was selected to serve as a Citizen Commissioner on Virginia’s Inaugural Redistricting Commission. James is a Former Board Member for the National Alliance of Mental Illness of Northern Virginia and a Member of the 2019 Class of the Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership.

James lives with his wife and two daughters in Burke, Virginia.
